You know, after leaving the previous comment, I thought, that the back of the neck (or how this part of the body is called) is of course thicker than other parts. Look at animals that walk on all fours (cats for example). Mather caryy their children holding on these very places. Humans must have retained this specific from the times we walked on all fours ourselves...
